Episode 8: The Preacher and the Comic Fan

Greetings constant listeners. Sorry for the delay in posting this episodes blog for Head Speaks... I'm sure neither of my listeners were too worried.  8)

Anywho.... Welcome back to Head Speaks and to my 8th episode entitled The Preacher and The Comic Fan.

First up, just a reminder, Head Speaks (and Task Force X) are both now available on Stitcher Radio (at Head Speaks at Stitcher.com).  Check it out and let me know what you think.
Don’t have Stitcher? ... Download it free today at Stitcher dot com or in the app store.

But for the 8th great episode of Head Speaks....

First in At The Movies With Head, I talk briefly about my buddy Gene Hendricks podcast The Hammer Strikes: Legends of the Superheroes.... in an upcoming episode, me and Gene spend about 45 minutes to an hour talking about 1994's The Crow.
I have a couple of small clips from the upcoming show... Look for The Hammer Strikes on iTunes... Not just for my appearance, you should listen to this on the regular as it's a GREAT podcast that I enjoy.

Then in Head's Longbox, I talk about the first issue of DC Comics/Vertigo's Preacher comic from 1995.
Briefly Preacher tells the story of a preacher (name Jesse Custer) that is imbedded by a "creature" called Genesis.  Genesis is the offspring of an angle and a demon that procreated (aka did the Angel/Demon Horizontal Tango).
Having Genesis as a part of him, gives Jesse The Voice of God.  What he says, people do...
Him and his companions (a female "assassin" and an Irish vampire) are looking for God who has got the Hell outta Heaven and is on the lam.  They are attempting to find him, to make him take responsibility for his actions.

Great series.  It's been reprinted in 9 TPBs.
If you get a chance, check it out... and listen to this episode for a recap of the first issue.

And finally in Geekin' With Head, I talk about comic book changes and the Long Time Fan vs the Newbie.... Take a listen and see what I think.

And this weeks end song is A Children's Story by Slick Rick....  A great jam from long ago... check it out.

Episode 7: Announcing the arrival of Grayson Robert Moss. Hail the Prince of Darkness!

Greetings constant listeners.

Welcome to the 7th episode of Head Speaks.

First up, Head Speaks (and Task Force X) are both available on Stitcher Radio (at Head Speaks at Stitcher.com).  Check it out and let me know what you think.
Don’t have Stitcher? ... Download it free today at Stitcher dot com or in the app store.

Now on to the actual episode itself....

First in A Little Head, I now have a bumper for this segment. Let me know what you think about it.
This episode I talk a little about my newest family member, Grayson Robert Moss, who was born on Jan 28, 2015.

Listen to the episode and discover the funny thing that happened (well, I thought it was pretty funny and fitting) that happened, the moment Grayson was born.

In Bitches, Moans, and Gripes, I talk about "The Zombie Apocalypse".  No, I'm not talking about the undead. I'm talking about morons walking around with their heads tucked in to their smart phone (making them dumber).

The Atom from the Countdown series I briefly mention.

What's In Head's Long Box... This month is another Character Spotlight.  This month I talk about my other favorite hero... Ray Palmer... aka The Atom.

The New 52 Atom (from Batman - Superman)

Ray Palmer aka The Atom from CW's Arrow!

First Appearance Showcase 34 (Oct 1961)
Created by Gardner Fox and Gil Kane.

Check out this episode for further information.

And finally on Where’s Head Going?

We had a double whammy with two sites today:

CreativeThreatFilms.com – my friend’s Scott Kessler’s site for his independent Films:

Scott has written and directed several great films: Green River, Wrestless, Paragon 1 and Paragon 2

I definetly recommend checking out his site.

And the second one isn't so much a website as a Facebook group.

It's called: Unite DC Comics Project.

Founded by: M Anthony Gerardo

From M Anthony's Mission statement:

"UNITE Fans of the DCU Project is my attempt to do just that.

The current era of DC COMICS is a sensitive topic for old and new fans alike. Both will respond with passionate opposing points of view regarding any DC conversation these days.
NEW 52 objectors are more than WELCOME>> But we do NOT endorse or support any Boycotts here....

Here we will try to be CONSTRUCTIVE with our likes & dislikes. I'd like this page to bring jaded DC fans together with new52 supporters so that they can CELEBRATE the BEST of all eras of DC COMICS. Lets come together as comic fans and offer ideas SOLUTIONS and resolutions to what fans think are problems.

Lets review NEW comics and revisit OLD ones as well.
Lets see new and INNOVATIVE ARTWORK from Fans and their portfolios.
Lets UNITE FANS OF THE DC UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This is a great page that I am active on.  Check it out and let em know Aaron sent ya.

This week's ending song in honor of the birth of my son Grayson Robert Moss.  It's a repeat from I believe the first episode: Paul and Storm's 'A Better Version of You'.

Episode 6: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Welcome to Episode 6 of Head Speaks!

Episode 6: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

First, I want to say that I hope that all of my listeners (both of you) had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Also, for an episode or two, I'm going to try doing some smaller Headcasts.  Let me know what you guys think.  Smaller or longer episodes?

Anywho.... for this episode:

A Little Head: I talk a little about the podcasts I listen to.

I listen to such podcasts as The Quantum Leap Podcast, Jay and Silent Bob Get Old, Fire and Water Podcast and many more... which ones?   Listen and find out....

Bitches Moans and Gripes: I continue with my Geekin' With Head from last episode and continue ranting about the problems with the current comic book marketplace... as I see it anyways...

And finally in What's in Head's Longbox: I have decided to occasionally look at a comic book character and outline his or her history.

Today I cover Firestorm (from DC Comics).
Firestorm was created in 1978 by one of the masters Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom.

His first series ran 5 issues and was cancelled due to the DC Implosion.

His next series ran 100 issues.

After that???  Well, listen to this month's episode and find out!

Also, let me know what you think of Character Profiles.  Do you like them?  Should they contain more information?  Less information?  Just the right amount?

Let me know at head@headspeaks.com.

This week's ending song in honor of Christmas is X-Mas Rap by The Treacherous Three.  Great jam.

Episode 4 - The Flash and Racism

Once again, my Headcast is a little late (getting to be a pattern with me).

But, finally... here it is.... a double length extravaganza.

Episode 4 - The Flash and Racism

This week I bring out intros for each segment and introduce a new segment:

The new segment is A Little Head.  This segment will explore Brother Head and get more of his backstory.

This episode we learn where the name Brother Head comes from and the Reader's Digest version of Head's life. All the way from his birth back on Dec 24, 1969 to the announcement of his son's conception in 2014.

In Bitches, Moans, and Gripes, we look at Racism.
Head makes his feelings known on racism and how everyone can be a racist.
He talks about racism in old cartoons and celebrities in black face and white face.
He also uses the ... n word.... (yes, he says nigga/nigger depending on "accent").

What's in Head's Long Box?
This episode Head talks briefly about DC Comics, New 52 Future's End.
I then review New Teen Titans Annual 2 and Vigilante 1.
New Teen Titans introduces us to Adrian Chase... aka The Vigilante.

The two pictures that I mention in the episode:

New Teen Titans Annual 2, page 39. I love the superimposed image of the Vigilante over the panels.

Splash page of Vigilante number 1 (I want this as a poster).

Geekin' With Head:
The Rock is confirmed to be Black Adam in upcoming Shazam movie.
Flash television casting announcement
2 comics in talks with CBS/TNT for new live action shows.

At The Movies With Head, we look at the pilot episode of The Flash.
I give a summary of the episode and review it.  I also give my thoughts and criticisms on it.

Where's Head Going?  http://comicbook.com

This episode's closing song is The Racist by Boogie Down Productions.
