Episode 28: The Sword of the Atom 4 plus The Fold

Welcome back true believers....

Sorry for the delay, I'm working on getting caught up with my podcasts... but here is the Episode 28: The Sword of the Atom 4 plus The Fold

First up on Head's Bookself, I take a brief look at The Fold by Peter Cline.

The Fold tells the story about a man named Mike Erikson who has been asked by a friend to look at a door in California that allows travel thousands of mile in a single step.  According to the scientists, it works perfectly, but if so, why are they hesitant to unveil it and how it works?  That is what Mike is looking in to.

Then on "What's In Head's Longbox?", we're going to continue taking a look at The Sword of the Atom, with issue 4 the final issue.

Episode 29: The Justice League of Comic Gods

Welcome back true believers....

As usual for me lately, I need to say sorry for the delay, I'm still working on getting caught up with my podcasts... but here is the Episode 29: The Justice League of Comic Gods

First up on "Geeking with Head", I rehash a recent Facebook post I made.

Anyone that knows me, might know that I'm not a religious man (any longer).  I've denounced all of that hokey religion crap... As a wise man once said "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

But after talking with a co-worker of mine (Hey William), I've decided that I actually do have a religion (besides the Church of the Jedi).  I (much like most of my fellow podcasters and bloggers) worship at the alter of the Comic Gods.

Listen to this episode for more information.  And let me know if you agree....

Then at 19 minutes in, I pull out "At The Movies With Head", where I take a quick peek at the current comic book tv shows and give some brief thoughts on what I'm watching and liking....

Then at about the fifty minute mark, we look at "What's In Head's Longbox?", where we continue our Atom coverage with his next appearance(s)... Justice League of America 225-227

This three issue arc (sadly not written by the great Gerry Conway), tales the tale of The Atom returning to the Justice League after his recent jungle adventure...

Listen in as I give my opinion on these issues.

Finally an hour and some change later at the hour and fifty two minute mark, we hear, "Where’s Head Going?"
This episode, I look at the podcast: Council of Geeks: 90’s Comics Retrial by Nathaniel Wayne
This show, Nathaniel looks at comics from, well, as the title suggests, the 90s.  One of the most maligned comic eras to date.  Nathaniel looks at comics from his collection, and judges them on their own merits and decides whether that era deserves the hatred and dislike they get.  It's a great show with a great host.
And as me and Shag talked about back in episode 12, the first part of the decade is the last half of my personal Golden Age of comics.

Finally, in honor of Christmas, my final song is "Santa is a B-Boy" by one of the great groups, Whistle.

Synopsis:
We start off where last issue ended with Taren and The Atom facing off an army of rats.  Suddenly gas starts entering the room, knocking the two men out.

Deraegis tells the king how the two men will make fine gladiators.   Ray is locked up and thinks how he picked up some of the language on the ride in and after a few days he’ll have it down.  After weeks locked up, he’s finally given a new costume and sent out to fight.  His opponent is a blinded Taren.  When the crowd sees what happened, they begin turning on the king for his cruelty.

Pohrager, one of the trainers, helps Taren and Ray escape as the crowd rushes the stage.  He takes them to a frog that is awaiting them, along with Laethwen.   As the guards rush him, The Atom tries to hold the guards back so Taren and the Princess can escape, but Pohrager, says that he’s not saving Taren, but The Atom.

The guards take Pohrager to the king whom he tells that the people have turned against him when they saw he blinded a prisoner for sport.  The king is confused by his accusations.

Back in the forest, Ray thinks back to how he got here and the events of issue 1.  When they stop, Ray tells Laethwen his story and she relates theirs to him.

They are from another planet.  Morlaidh was established to be a penal colony for political undesirables.  Without support from home, their technology failed and they became more barbaric.   They started splitting in to warring tribes.  Her father wishes to unit them , while Deraegis thinks it can only be done via conquest.  Laethwen says that her dad’s adviser has turn the king in to a cruel man obsessed with his dreams.

While talking Taren yells for help as he’s confronted by a lizard.  Atom throws his sword in to the lizard’s mouth to scare it off, and then the creature is fell by a barrage of poisoned arrows by Taren’s band. Back in Morlaidh, the king tells his adviser he can deal with Pohrager as he sees fit.
Taren introduces The Atom to his group and he is welcomed in to the tribe.

Back in Morlaidh, we find Pohrager being hung and thirsty, driving the city even further against the king.    Deraegis takes the prisoner some water and tells him that Caellich’s cruelty has not gone unnoticed and he’ll soon be freed.  He says that there is talk of rebellion, which townsfolk over hear which fans the flames of revolt even more.

Back in the woods, Laethwen tells The Atom how even away from their home planet, class prejudices still rule and it took her awhile to overcome that to admit her feelings for Taren.  Taren tells the pair that he was betrayed by one of his own.  Now that he’s blind, Atom will have to lead his men.  He makes a comment how the forest is dangerous for the weak, careless, and disabled.
As Atom leave Laethwen to try and talk sense to a despondent Taren, he’s cold cocked by one of Taren’s men, Voss, who believes The Atom is a spy working for the king.  The fight a little as Voss is knocked next to his poison arrows, of which he grabs and threatens Ray with.

Cut to the Loring/Palmer house where Jean calls up Paul to have someone to talk to.  Being a wonderful human being, he offers to come over to comfort Jean.
To Be Cont.

Be sure to take a listen and let us know what you think.

Then on "Where is Head Going?", I talk briefly about Saturday Morning Fever from the Fire and Water Network.

Finally, our final song is "Just A Friend " by Biz Markie

Episode 22: The Musical Interlude Episode 3

Greetings constant listeners.

Welcome back to Head Speaks and to Episode 22: The Musical Interlude Episode 3

Before I start, a small announcement.  Since I'm usually a day or two late getting my podcasts out, I'm going to try something. I'm going to start releasing my podcasts on each Thursday of the week instead of Tuesday.  Not a big change, but it is what it is.

Now on to this episode.....

First up, I start a new segment, 'Getting Head in the car', where I spend my drive home from work recording on my phone.  It's a new segment I'm trying out.  Let me know what you think.  This month, I talk a little about DC Comics and the Legends of Tomorrow comic.

Then on Geeking With Head, I continue to talk about and playing more cartoon intros from my youth (the 60's - 80's).

This is the third part of a multi part episode (not sure how many episodes yet...).

This episode I talk about the following shows (each link goes to the Wiki page talking about the show):

Then on Where Is Head Going?  I look at an buddy's podcast... The Irredeemable Shag's Justice League International Bwhaahaha Podcast.
It's Shag's new show that looks at the late great Justice League International comic.

Finally, our final song is Big Mouth by Whodini

Episode 20: Jerry Lee's Musical Interlude

            Greetings constant listeners.

Welcome back to Head Speaks and to Episode 20: Jerry Lee's Musical Interlude

First up on A Little Head...  As you'll notice and I talk about, I have done away with my "porno" version of my intro.  Over the last few months, I've been doing a lot of thinking and while I still believe in speaking my mind, I think I want to keep this podcast more Family Friendly.  So while there will be the occasional episode with more adult content, by and large, most episodes will be more Safe For Work and lil ears.

But back to A Little Head, this episode I dedicate and talk briefly (about 5 minutes) about my brother, Jerry Lee Todd II.  He was born Feb 26, 1973 and died Dec 12, 1984.  Again, I've gone in length on other episodes about his death, so I just briefly mention him this episode.  I'll probably talk more about him in future episodes....

But I want to keep this episode a little lighter, as on Geeking With Head, I decided to spend about 40 minutes or so talking about and playing some cartoon intros from my youth (the 70's and 80's).

This is the first part of a multi part episode (not sure how many episodes yet...).

This episode I talk about the following shows (each link goes to the Wiki page talking about the show):
            1) Schoolhouse Rock
            2) The Littles
            3) Laff-A-Lympics
            4) Visionaries
            5) MASK
            6) Silverhawks
            7) Thundercats

Don't worry, True Believers, there will be more shows to come.  Due to family issues and time, this is but the first.

Finally, our final song is No More Kings, one of the Schoolhouse Rock songs.

Episode 19: Michelle Awakens The Force

            Greetings constant listeners.

Welcome back to Head Speaks and to Episode 19: Michelle Awakens The Force

First up on A Little Head, I continue talking about my family, as I tell you about my wife, love and enabler, Michelle Moss.

I continue my Star Wars fandom, by giving my review of The Force Awakens.  Yes, this is Spoiler filled.

Finally, our final song is the Star Wars Cantina theme.
